My name is Mekala Poirier, and I graduated from Methodist University on May 9th, 2015. As an United States Naval Intelligence Veteran, I have a profound respect for diverse cultures and a love for meeting new people from all walks of life. When I am not nursing, I enjoy perusing the local farmers market for fresh seasonal produce and discovering new treasures made by local artisans. One of my favorite hobbies is finding a forgotten or abandoned piece at a local thrift store that I can give new life to by refinishing and repurposing the item; large or small, I am always on the hunt for “that perfect piece”.
Whether I am three weeks into a one day refurbish project or knee-deep in school, I am relentless at accomplishing my goal. I've had a dream to work in Healthcare since I was four years old. Even though my initial path may have altered slightly, my ultimate goal of being in healthcare has never faltered. Nursing not only allows me the ability to make a difference everyday, but also the personal satisfaction that I am doing what I love.
